Just 26 months ago, these sweet feet were on my tiny infant.
Just 25 months ago, one of these feet was casted for the first time.
Just 23 months ago, these feet were bound together in sweet white shoes with a shiny red bar in between them.
Just 17 months ago, one of these feet was molded for a beautiful blue and butterfly brace.
Now these feet walk. Now these feet dance. Now these feet run and jump and play. Now these feet ground my sweet 29 lb, 36 in. toddler.
It won't be long before these feet touch the ground when my girl sits in this chair. It won't be long before these feet carry my girl on a first date. It won't be long before these feet carry my girl down the aisle as a bride.
How can I stop time?

This is absolutely beautiful. I LOVE this shot. What a wonderful, touching look at her feet. And how sweet they are!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written. I guess all we can do is live in the moment and enjoy this day. And I like the treatment you gave the picture emphasizing those sweet little feet.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!

ReplyDeletebeautiful photo but your words make it even more lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love what you wrote--it's so true. I found something the other day I wrote about the crease in J's wrist. It's gone. I hardly remember it, but I'm so thankful I have pictures and words to jog my memory. Your post will be so valuable to you on that day her feet carry her down the aisle :)
ReplyDeleteNat,
ReplyDeleteYou know I have this thing about sweet baby feet...(remember ME's feet poem from Greg's class this summer?!). This post brought tears to my eyes. The photo and your words...M is growing fast, but you are savoring each second and recording it all. These words and your photos will be cherished in those more grown up days to come. How far her feet will carry her in this life...God has blessed her with such gifts!

Big Sis,
ReplyDeleteI love this photo and words about M's feet. I remeber her sweet little feet when she was born and all the memories that we have had during her short life so far. It seems like just the other day when I drove up there from college to be with you after she was born. I can't believe she is so big now. This post brought tears to my eyes thinking of the fun times we are all had with those little feet.
Love You,
Your Little Brother
That is precious -- feet, movement through time -- great.

ReplyDeleteOh Natalie! You are making me tear up. What sweet tender words & image, which ring so true in this mother's heart. Beautiful. Your focus and processing are lovely - and her shoes are darling! If only we could find a way to pause time and enjoy our toddlers just a little while longer...
