What's a girl to do?

What's a girl to do when she just can't fall asleep even though her mean mommy left her in her crib for over 2 hours? (Disclaimer: There was no crying involved at all.) Well, she gets to come downstairs, have a yummy bowl of grits and read her electronic books with her daddy, of course!
Poor M couldn't settle down for bed tonight! She was so sweet in her crib...just talking to herself and her stuffed animals and rolling around. H went in there several times to help her settle down, I'd been in there a couple of times. All to no avail. So, after 2 hours and 15 minutes, when I went up for "the last time," M was so excited. She jumped up, threw her pacifier back into the crib and said, "Not nigh-nigh!" She just wasn't tired yet. She hadn't had a good dinner, so I broke that parenting rule about not coming out of bed after you've been put down for the night (I think that's only the 2nd time I've ever broken that rule) and brought her downstairs to fill her little tummy up. I knew the one thing she NEVER refuses is grits, so she was treated to a yummy bowl of grits and some sweet snuggle time with her dada.
Ahhh...sweet summer memories.

What a sweetie! My kids would be screaming if they were still awake two hours after bedtime. Quality time is always nice, though. Hope she went to bed well with a full tummy.

Our girls must be talking...Nadia's been having trouble going to sleep lately too! She'll often talk and play in her crib for a while before sleep, but the last week or so she'll stay up for 3+ hours and doesn't always stay so happy. :o( I've broken "the rule" twice in the last week and gotten her back up for a little while.

We have done that before also. Sometimes they just want to hang out with mom and dad. I am so impressed with your blog. I usually visit it each week, I love the pictures, so don't apologize for more than one picture. I am so jealous of that camera too! I am asking for one for Christmas. Those black and whites are amazing. Anyway, hope you are having a good week! We had fun at the library. Thanks for the pictures.

Sometimes there's just nothing else you can do. What does it really hurt to have some extra relaxing time with daddy and mommy?

Not a thing wrong with the sweet time Natalie spent with daddy after bedtime. I love a southern girl who loves her grits. :)
